Verruca Pedis
What is Verruca Pedis?
Verrucas are caused by a viral infection called Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Verrucas can be caught by close skin to skin contact or indirect transmittal from contaminated surfaces, most commonly at a swimming pool. They can develop as a single verruca or as a cluster. It is recommended to see a podiatrist if the verruca changes in appearance, spreads, bleeds or causes substantial pain or discomfort.
Causes
The most common causes of Verruca Pedis include but are not limited to:
- Directly having HPV
- Coming into contact with contaminated surfaces of HPV
Symptoms
The most common symptoms of verruca pedis mostly include but are not limited to:
- Verruca presents as a hard lump with black dots
- Sole of the foot has white areas with a small black dots in the middle
- Callus development
- Can be painful when pressure is put on the affected area
