What are Friction Blisters?
Friction blisters are something that the majority of people will encounter throughout their life. They are caused by the repeated rubbing of clothing or shoes on your feet. The blisters occur when the outer and inner layers of skin separate, the space with in the layers is filled with lymph fluid. Friction blisters can be very painful and uncomfortable and as a result could cause problems when walking.
Causes
The most common causes of friction blisters include but are not limited to:
- Heat
- Mositure
- Pressure
- Rubbing of clothing / shoes
- Ill fitting footwear
- New footwear

Symptoms
The most common symptoms of friction blisters mostly include but are not limited to:
- Blistering on the skin
- Rashes
- Itching
- Pain
- Redness
- Swelling
Treatments
Treatments for friction blisters include but are not limited to:
- Puncture the blister
- Antibiotic creams
- Leaving the blister to deplete
